And with this quilt

I am finished with customer quilting for 2011.

There was some fullness in the quilt center so I popped a piece of batting in the middle of the quilt and it sucked the fullness right in.

Quilted with Cascade.

Now it's onto some special quilts. Rhonda and I came up with the idea of making each of our three pastors quilts for Christmas this year. Then December came and we realized we hadn't started lol. So we made three Christmas lap quilts. I've quilted the first two and Rhonda is doing the third.

Than it's a push on binding to get these finished for Friday. And fingers crossed I can start some of my Christmas presents tomorrow.

Applique

Wanda brought in this lovely quilt.

This is one of my favorite snowman kits from Hamels. This is one of my favorite blocks.

I ended up doing a freehand meander as Wanda didn't want any quilting on the appliques.

Shelia has done a quilt for each of her sister/brothers for Christmas. This one is stunning.

Look at all the details

quilted with Flowing Feathers.

Now it's time to get back to work and finish some more!

Still stitching

I finally got my November Birdie Block done. I saw some modified block on Flikr and I changed mine as well. Since we celebrate Thanksgiving in October in Canada, I wanted a Remembrance Day theme for the November block.

I also finished a few more of my Christmas blocks. I think I might turn these into a tablerunner.

Now I just might try some quilting today.

Sniffles and sneezes

My cold came back last week and by Saturday, I was really sick. A not so quick trip to the Drs and I have strep and a sinus infection.

Before I got sick, I got this cute quilt quilted for Jackie. And perfect timing too since she requested the binding to be attached after quilting so I had something to keep me busy while laying on the couch lol.

Each of the snowmen in Jackie's quilt are named

Representing members of her family. Such a great idea.

As for me, I got some more embroidery finished. These are soon going to be some Christmas pillows.

Getting Closer

I have had so much fun doing the Birdie stitchery. I really love how the quilt is turning out.

Before starting November's block; which I did change up, I sewed my finished blocks together.

I'm using the Martinique fabric line but I used a stash fabric for the sashings. I was originally going to use the red tone on tone print but it was too overpowering. This sashing fabric has a grey fleck to it and it works nicely with the Martinique.

Just a block and a bit to go now!

Changes

Back in September, we had the exterior of our house painted. Not the entire house as it is brick, but the back(yucky stucco) and the side the studio desperately needed some updating.

It looks so much nicer now; I love the color. We matched it to some of the brick in the front of the house.

We also had a BIG change done in the front yard. We had this big lovely tree. It had gotten so big even the guy we hire to hang the Christmas lights on was refusing to hang them anymore. And the tree was too big to top; the shape would just be too off. So we had it removed.

I'm still not used to not having the tree there. Or how big our house looks with the tree gone. We will be planting a new tree or two come spring to replace this one.

Now it's time to get the pumpkins put away and finish bringing out all the Christmas decorations!

Swoon

I finished my Swoon quilt top. I only did 4 blocks because of how big they finish.

My favorite block,

I also did a disappearing 9 patch table runner.

This will probably be a Christmas present. For whom, I have no idea lol.

Christmas is coming

And we have listed some quilts for sale on our website. You can check them out here; Quilts for Sale.

Joyce brought in this beautiful quilt that one of our guilds offered as a class.

Fay Feathers is a lovely panto and works great on big quilts like this.

Sheila pieced this beauty.

I love how the panto, Petaluma, stands out in the white space.

I was home alone on the weekend and managed to get my Swoon quilt top finished. I'll show you that tomorrow.

Coach House Designs

I was privileged to again get to quilt Barb's quilts for Fall Market.

This one is my favorite,

Entirely custom quilted.

It may look like a panel, but it's not.

I'm not sure if this quilt went to market, but it will be in Barb's book being released in the spring.

I love these blocks,

Such pretty, pretty fabrics.

And lastly, this little one. I love this new line by Basic Grey.

Thank you Barb for entrusting me with your quilts!

Swoon

Seems like everyone is doing the Swoon quilt. When I saw Rhonda's blocks, I had to join in.

Here's my first two blocks.

I'm taking today off and have two more blocks almost finished. I am only doing 4 blocks for this quilt. With the blocks measuring 24inches, 4 blocks will make a nice wallhanging.

Thankful

That I am feeling much better. I think I needed a few days to just sit back and relax. I got a few things finished that I am very excited about.

I got this kit from Hamels after seeing the one that Rhonda made. I was lucky enough to get the last brown one in stock.

I copied Rhonda and straight-line quilted the panel. I love the effect.

I also finished up a few embroidery stitcheries.
This fall one,

And fall flowers,

The camera kept focusing on the quilting; the cross-hatching is much more subtle than the picture shows.

Now I have a custom quilt to finish; it's leaving for Fall Market tomorrow. Can't wait to show you pictures.

Max and Whiskers

One of my daughter in laws friends is pregnant and Erica wanted to make her a baby quilt. We picked out the Max and Whiskers fabric and Erica got sewing. She did a really good job piecing the quilt when we were out visiting in the summer. I brought the quilt home and quilted it up and it's now ready to mail back to Calgary.

I've been hit with a horrible cold so I've been keeping up with my embroidery. I finished October's birdie block

And started working on a larger embroidery quilt I found in a magazine. Here's block one

Will see if I feel up to doing more.

Taking Time

After I finished Sharon's quilt, I needed to take some down time.

I did some simple straight line quilting on a jelly roll race quilt for myself.

I also quilted this lovely quilt for Marcia using the panto Laurie.

Tonight, it's back to embroidery. I have my September Birdie Block done, time to get working on October's.

It's done!!!

7 long days of quilting and I have Sharon's quilt finally finished. I am so thrilled with how it's turned out; I hope Sharon loves it as much as I do!

Isn't it beautiful? I only did 5 thread changes but 1 color was a variegated(for the geese border).

I did a squiggly line in the center of the compasses

The background fabric is McTavished; I did a water stitch in the background of the circle compass blocks. Continuous curve in the flying geese and a wiggly echo in the border spires.

I am so glad this one is done! I was almost done in getting it finished lol. Now I am going to sit back adn work on a new Christmas embroidery project. You can download it here. I did get the first block done, isn't he cute?
