Doubled Up

Carole brought in 4 baby quilts; all were similar panels but she wanted something different to them. Carole wanted to batting doubled in the quilts; I teased her that we could sew them together in pairs and make sleeping bags.

I did some wonky squares(circle lord square dance); the quilting really shows on with the doubled batting.

So warm and cuddly. One has minkee backing and the other three flannel.

This and That

We had a great weekend with the grandsons; tiring but it was fun having them here. I actually managed to squeeze in some piecing.

And out of the 12 seams I sewed, 6 needed ripped out.

I decided to show a picture of my (empty) organized fabric closet.

These shelves used to be stuffed. And there were piles of fabric on the floor. All the batiks were in bins not even in the closet; I got rid of a lot of fabric.

Wednesday and Thursday we had a tease of summer. It was so hot I almost had Dave drag out the air conditioners for the studio. But today it's back to pouring rain. So what do you do when you should be outside enjoying summer? You rip apart your fabric closet. I really should have taken some pictures. I ended up donating 5 large garbage bags of fabric to my local guild. I know the fabric will be put to good use. And now my family is all placing wagers on how long it will take me to fill the room back up again lol.

I had some free time earlier this week and got a ufo finished up. I made this quilt (the awesome quilt from Moda BakeShop last year at a quilting retreat.

I used my Circle Lord swirls; I love my Circle Lord.

Jim and Rhonda are away for the weekend so I don't think I'll get any quilting time with the grandsons here. They will all be pretty excited that today is the last day of school. Bring on summer!

For Cynthia

In May Rhonda was asked about making two quilts for two graduates. She's been pretty busy with other customer quilts so once she had the quilt made, I quilted it for her.

quilted with Bright and Breezy

I also got this beautiful quilt for Peg quilted.

quilted with Winding Plume

The quilt was so big, I couldn't get it all in for a picture.

I love her pieced border. Great job Peg!

One for Me

I spent some time on the weekend working on some of my own quilts. I got this quilt not only pieced but quilted as well.

I used my Circle Lord swirls to quilt it.
I really like the contrast with the swirls.

Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to quilt this one for myself as well.

Spring Market 2012

Barb kept me busy again with her quilts for Spring Market. I do so enjoy getting to see some of the new fabrics coming out before they are available to the public.

I love this first one. I kept it simple and quilted it with diagonal straight lines. Simple and yet so striking.

Barb opted to have this one panto'd. I chose Tulip Festival and believe it fit well with the quilt.

How cute is this one?

 quilted with Happy Times.

This was one of my favorites,

 quilted with Kiss Curls

And lastly,

 quilted with Alfresco.
