A few months ago

Rhonda had a quilt come in that was a train panel. My brother in law adores trains and with his 80th birthday approaching(it was yesterday), I knew I wanted to make him the quilt.
I ended up getting the last kit from the store and the kit sat and sat waiting for me to make it. When I finally opened it last weekend, I decided to make the quilt differently from what the pattern wanted.

I backed the quilt with a snuggly minkee. My brother in law recently fell and ended up having hip replacement surgery so I wanted the quilt warm for him.

I kept the quilting minimal and use my Circle Lord board Water for the quilting.

Ted called last night to thank me for the quilt. He was almost speechless he was so thrilled with his quilt. That is why we make them for those special to us isn't it?

Customs

I finished up the rush custom quilts from last week.

Jazzy

I did a zigzag stitch through the 'rays' in a variegated thread.
Than I quilted lots and lots of pebbles in the center.

On the next two, lots of thread play.

First, Sunflower

Linda put these together similarly to a bargello. She uses 4 panels to make each quilt.

And Iris.

Not as much thread play on this as on Sunflower.

With those finished up, I spent my weekend playing with this.

Clearing the air

I was at our quilt guild meeting earlier this week and was surprised to hear that I was moving! Nothing could be farther from the truth! Yes, when Dave had his health scare earlier this spring, the idea was there for us to move. We were worried that our home was too big for Dave and I but we decided that we love it to much to move to something smaller.

So do not fear; Quilted Cats Hideaway is not moving. And if we do, we would be staying in the Chilliwack area. There is also no plans for myself to retire for a very long time. And don't forget, Rhonda has years of quilting ahead of her also!

Thank you for continuing to entrust us to complete your creations. Rhonda and I both love what we do and will be doing it for as long as we can.

Time flies when you are having fun

I was shocked to see that it has been a month since I last posted. Dave and I recently bought a new trailer and we have had too much fun camping in it. As always, I have taken my sewing machine with me and am working on finishing some ufos.

On our last trip I got this one finished. I couldn't even tell you when I first started this quilt.

Now to decide how to quilt it!

But before I can think about quilting that, I have 3 rush custom quilts I need to get finished up asap.
How fun does this look?

Will show more later this week!
